Beautiful and graceful,
 varied and enchanting,
small but approachable,
butterflies lead you to the sunny side of life.
And everyone deserves a little sunshine.

Starbucks wedding proposal ~ must see

I came across this on the web and thought it was so sweet!  These two met in a starbucks so when this guy wanted to propose he recreated a Starbucks in the woods, and WOW,  is he good at details!  What an amazingly creative idea, just when you thought there was no way to creatively propose anymore. “For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.”

Abandoned houses RoCk!

on 11.6.11

I love exploring abandoned places!  I'm pretty sure this place was abandoned but not 100% sure, as there were a few things that threw me off.  So I didn't get up too close.  Normally I like this type of picture in b/w, but I was still very interested in the color image also.  I think it's the strong green grass, and the blue sky that kept me revisiting it.

Upcoming FREE workshop on processing

Doug Landreth has vision. His vision goes beyond what his camera is able to capture. He’s compelled to tell a story and a single photographic image is just the first chapter. He’s not afraid to use all the tools available to him in order to create the rich content in his artwork. Every artist must be fearless in their own way and he is a great example. He makes no apologies for his use of layering, patina and texturing. Would we expect a painter to excuse their use of oils, watercolors or pastels? A photograph is only the canvas for Doug. His palette is boundless.

~ I took their food photography workshop with Penny De Los Santos, and it was awesome!

50 things every graphic design (or photography) student should know....

I came across this and thought it applies to photography as well!  Here is the link to the article 50 things every graphic design student should know and a teaser below.

1. You are not the first.

There are very few ‘firsts’ these days. Countless others have started studios, freelanced and requested internships. It can be done. #the50

2. There is always someone better.

Regardless of how good you are, there will always be someone better. It’s surprisingly easy to waste time worrying about this. #the50

3. Success is not a finite resource.

College fosters a zero-sum mentality: that someone has to fail for you to succeed. In truth, another’s success doesn’t limit yours. #the50

4. You cannot score without a goal.

If you don’t know what you want, then how can you pursue it? Having a goal defines an end point, and subsequently, a place to start. #the50

5. Starting anything requires energy.

It takes more energy to start than it does to stop. This is true for physics, your career, and that idea you need to work on. #the50

Use the talents you possess - for the woods would be a very silent place if no birds sang except for the best.

~ Henry Van Dyke

My husband and I noticed straw poking out from the grill, then we watched as a bird disappeared into the grill.  That's when we realized that the grill was being used for a nest.  We poked our heads in and found not only a huge nest, but 2 eggs that had hatched and 3 unhatched.  05/26/11
